Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be an Echo Lake Church member to have my children in the school?

No, ELCA is open to all families seeking a Biblically based education.

How old does my child need to be to attend Kindergarten?

To attend ELCA as a Kindergarten student, the child must be five by September 1st. All students going into kindergarten will be required to complete a reading readiness exam.

Will ELCA teach sex education or gender fluidity?

No, we believe that sex education is best approached and taught in the home/family. We will teach essential health and hygiene in Science/P.E. Beyond this, we will always uphold a Biblical ethic regarding sex, gender, and gender roles. We reject the secular ideology that sex is subjective or relative. We believe and teach that sex and gender are biological and God-ordained.

How big are the classes?

Echo Lake Christian Academy is set up as one large classroom where students have their own separate offices to work. This allows the student’s privacy and helps with concentration. Students who are readers (generally 2nd grade and up) sit in one classroom. Students in K and 1st grade have separate classrooms with their teachers.

What is the teacher-student ratio?

The ideal ratio is 1:32 however, our classroom and teacher ratios may vary. Those in the reader classroom will have a higher ratio.

Does ELCA have a sports program?

Not currently. Our priority is to ensure the students get a quality Biblical education and have biblical character coupled with critical thinking and communication skills. However, sports teach good character and team building. For this reason, we plan to pursue different sports over time. Our students (K-8) participate in different intramural sports during PE time.
