Statement of Faith

• The scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by the inspiration of God, and only they constitute the divine rule of Christian Faith and practice. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:20-21)

• That there is only one God, who is infinitely perfect –the creator, preserver, and Governor of all things – and who is the only proper object of religious worship. (Hebrews 3:4; Psalms 22:28; Psalms 3:3-8; I Kings 3:60; Isaiah 44:6; Deuteronomy 5:7)

• There are three persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are undivided in essence and coequal in power and glory. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:3; Luke 12:10)

• That in the person of Jesus Christ, the divine and human natures are united so that He is both truly and properly God and truly and properly man. (John 1:29; John 17:21; Matthew 1:25; Luke 2:21)

• That our first parents, Adam and Eve, were created in a sinless state in fellowship with God but that, by their disobedience to God, they lost their purity and fellowship and that, in consequence of their fall, all humans are born “under sin” and are therefore justly exposed to the wrath of God. (Genesis 1:26-31; Genesis 3; Romans 3:9-18)

• As recorded in scripture, the Lord Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. (Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:26-35)

• That the Lord Jesus Christ has, by suffering and dying on the cross, made propitiation (i.e., gained favor and forgiveness for us) through His shed blood for all humanity so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but shall have eternal life. (Matthew 20:28; John 3:16; I Corinthians 6:20; Romans 4:7; Hebrews 9:28; Galatians 3:13)

• That Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave and ascended into heaven. (Mark 16:6; Mark 16:19; Acts 1:9)

• That repentance toward God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary for salvation. (Acts 2:38; Luke 13:3; John 3:16; II Corinthians 5:17)

• We are justified by grace alone through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit dwells in anyone who believes in Him. (Romans 3:24; Ephesians 1:7; Matthew 5:13-16; Matthew 13:43)

• In the immortality of the soul, the resurrection of the dead, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the endless punishment of the wicked. (I Corinthians 15:12-23; John 5:28-29; Revelations 21:4; Romans 2:8-9)

• We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

• God established marriage as a life-long union between one man and one woman, reflecting the Triune God’s relational, diverse, and loving nature. Marriage is defined in Scripture as one man and one woman, as created by God, becoming “one flesh.” The marriage relationship is the only acceptable relationship where sexual expression is to be experienced as a means of joy, pleasure, intimacy, and the procreation of the human race. (Genesis 2:18-25; Malachi 2:14-16; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 7:1-16; Hebrews 13:4)

• We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11). We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of the school.

• We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps. 139.)
